ABOUT
“Kikoku Shūshū,” meaning “the cry of a ghost,” symbolizes the sound of “otherness” that is excluded from the institutionalized “normality” of modern society. Taking as its motif the ghost bound to a specific location (jibakurei), this “inaudible voice,” or ghost signal, will be presented in collaboration with various artists.
Kikoku Shushu fuses cybernetics, folkloric ghost narratives, and new media technology to explore, from multiple perspectives, how “ghost signals” are generated, transmitted, and experienced between physical space (reality) and digital space (online).
Through an artistic and academic re-interpretation of place and signal in the new media era, the project goes beyond a mere sound installation to contemplate how “reality (place)” and “digital (signal)” overlap and collide.
「⻤哭啾啾」は、「ゴーストの鳴き声」を意味し、現代社会において制度化された「正常性」から排除された「他者性」のオトを象徴します。特定の場所から離れられずに留まるゴースト（地縛霊）をモチーフに、この「聴こえない声」、ゴーストシグナル（ghost signal）を様々なアーティストとコラボレーションすることで公開します。
⻤哭啾啾は、サイバネティクス(cybernetics)、⺠俗学的な目線から見た幽霊の物語、そしてニューメディア・テクノロジーを融合させ、物理的空間（現実）とデジタル空間（オンライン）の間で「幽霊的シグナル（ghost signal）」がどのように⽣成・伝達・享受されるかを多⾓的に探究するものです。
ニューメディア時代の場所性およびシグナルに関する再解釈のアプローチを通じて、単なるサウンド・インスタレーションにとどまらず、「現実（場所性）」と「デジタル（シグナル）」がどのように重なり合い、衝突するのか思索します。
‘귀곡성’(kikoku shushu)는 ‘유령의 울음소리’를 뜻하며, 현대 사회에서 제도화된 ‘정상성’으로부터 배제된 ‘타자성’의 소리를 상징합니다. 특정 장소를 떠나지 못하고 머무는 유령(지박령)을 모티프로 삼아, 이 ‘들리지 않는 목소리’인 고스트 시그널(ghost signal)을 다양한 아티스트와의 협업을 통해 공개합니다.
귀곡성은 사이버네틱스(cybernetics), 민속학적인 시선에서 본 유령 이야기, 그리고 뉴미디어 테크놀로지를 융합하여, 물리적 공간(현실)과 디지털 공간(온라인) 사이에서 ‘유령적 시그널(ghost signal)’이 어떻게 생성・전달・향유되는지 다각적으로 탐구합니다.
뉴미디어 시대의 장소성과 시그널에 대한 재해석을 통해, 단순한 사운드 인스톨레이션을 넘어 ‘현실(장소성)’과 ‘디지털(시그널)’이 어떻게 겹치고 충돌하는지를 사유합니다.
