怕 White Heart

What are you afraid of? What are you afraid of now? What were you afraid of when you were a child?

As children, we are afraid of ghosts. As children, we are afraid of monsters. As children, we are afraid of the dark night. When we are young, we think everything is real. When I was a boy, my brother and I once saw an owl sitting on the outside of our bedroom window. To us, however, it was not an owl. It was what we thought we saw. The sound of the wind can be anything. What we did not know was terrifying. Not knowing what will happen is terrifying. Not knowing what has happened is terrifying.

When we are grown, we are not afraid of ghosts. When we are grown, we are not afraid of monsters. We all know these things are not real. An owl sitting on my window at night is an owl. However, as adults, what we know we saw can be terrifying. What we do know can be terrifying. Knowing what happened can be terrifying. Knowing what will happen can be terrifying. As adults, we are not afraid of the sound of the wind, but rather, afraid of what the wind can do. We are not afraid of the dark night, but we are afraid of the long night.
