Love letter to the Kuntilanak

To my love,

Tread carefully in your new reincarnation, visceral shell.

Eyes and nails sharp enough to pierce the heavens. Splendor rises in the East along with the son of Mars. She soon dissipates and there in the shadows I find you,  again-  emerging from the collective egregore of shadows with the daughter of Venus in hand, from thickets of dark blue and empty black– putrid with the sweet stench of rotting mangos and bananas.

Your beauty should invite envy but it instead inspires a rabid hunger for consumption. Oh, and how had the world consumed you so violently… Yellow eyes and mouth with mist of lust, like vultures, they descended unto your human corpse and tore you asunder– feet… Naval… Rib cage… Tongue…The agent of darkness stabbed your left thigh and left you immobile, breathing into a shallow grave along tall grass dancing in the wind.

It was a feast trespassed with so much rapture, Bacchus witnessed and delighted in the revelry, raising a toast to the celebration of your new homecoming.

So burn, please, burn–  with impotent rage, your heart and spirit a kerosene inferno on ocean– and delicately place the right ventricle of the heart under the palate of your tongue– relishing in the taste of metal and the viscosity of man’s hubris.

You are the broken piece of my rib cage,

The undulating wave from an hour past midnight

The sharpened teeth from the mouth of a crying creature,

I sink into your shadows.

Eternally yours,

S.

* The Kuntilanak is the spirit of a woman who died while pregnant, either during childbirth or at the hands of men. Now, she returns from the dead, driven by a fierce desire for vengeance, determined to seek retribution against those responsible.
